Today’s “perfect woman” is
perfectly tanned, skinny, big-busted, and doesn’t wear anything that doesn't
expose her midriff and at least 50% of her flawlessly toned ass. Every girl
wants to be her; every guy wants to date her. The media portrays women as desirable
sex objects, created as toys for men to enjoy. When was the last time you saw a
woman who wasn’t wearing a low-cut
top or a swimsuit advertising something on television? It seems like having a
double D rack is a requirement to be in the spotlight these days.
This
stereotype is promoted not only by media but also by celebrities themselves.
Many famous personalities nowadays got their start by selling their bodies in
some way. Examples include, but are far from limited to, Paris Hilton, Kim
Kardashian, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus. If you’re reading this blog you
probably (hopefully) recognize most, if not all, of the names above. And that
is exactly the whole damn problem in today’s society. In a world where a female
making a sex tape generates more fame than a female running for president,
something is seriously wrong. Are we seriously going to teach our children that
having big tits will get them farther in life than being smart and working
hard?
Although
social media has helped to perpetuate this stereotype, it is not to blame
completely. Women throughout history have been portrayed as fragile and
dependent, always needing a man by their side to protect them and be, in
essence, their life. Starting with the images of Disney princesses looking for
their Prince Charming to come save them, females have always been depicted as completely
worthless without a man. How fucking ignorant is that? And who do you think
wrote these timeless fairy tales? The men, of course. The godforsaken oblivious
men who think they control everyone.
Once
upon a time a group of old-timey fat bastards sat around in their powdered wigs
and decided to write a collection of children’s stories. A sweet concept of
course, seeing as there’s nothing more innocent or precious than children’s
stories. But of course these hairy tubs of lard decided to make the stories
revolve around the heroic acts of (insert prince name here) and how he saves
(insert princess name here) from all of her misery and despair. Obviously the
princess couldn’t save herself, because she was too busy brushing her hair and
singing to the birds and mice. Obviously.
If
you think about it, this really isn’t that much different from how things are
today. Substitute string bikinis for ball gowns, and it’s clear that women are
still controlled by men’s ideals. By making females seem like helpless creatures
unable to rescue themselves from the boredom that is their lives, men have and
still are controlling women.
